AT6 .25 RACING RULES & REGULATIONS

  1. SAFTY: of spectators, contest personnel and contestants are the primary concern. Any unsportsmanlike conduct or repeated hazardous flying shall be cause for immediate disqualification.
  2. NOTE: In regards to this rule, the OPINION of the Contest Director shall govern at each event. However, any flying over the pits or the spectator area shall:
    1. The first time- cause disqualification for that heat, and will land the plane immediately
    2. The second time – disqualification for the day.
  1. RACE MATRIX: shall be prepared prior to racing and no deviations shall be made, unless and except dropout of aircraft makes it necessary to reform heats so that a minimum of two aircraft are scheduled to fly in each heat. No single aircraft shall be scheduled to race alone at any time. A maximum of four aircraft shall be scheduled per heat.
  2. A maximum of two aircraft per contestant shall be allowed. Both aircraft must be the property of the pilot, must be declared prior to the start of racing, both aircraft shall be on the same frequency, both shall conform to aircraft specifications. No aircraft shall be flown by more than one person in any race.

AT6 SPECIFICATIONS

  1. AIRCRAFT:
  2. a. The AT6 (almost ready to fly) by Global, presently distributed by HOBBY SHACK, is the only model aircraft sanctioned to race at WEEDWACKERS racing.

  3. IDENTIFICATION:

a. Model may be recovered or over painted at the discretion of the modeler.

3. DIHEDRAL:

  1. Minimum of ¾" dihedral under each wing tip.

b. Modification to the aircraft, including the leading, trailing and tips of the wings and tail is not permitted.

  1. HEIGHT:
  2. a. Minimum canopy height of 5 ½" as measured at the wing trailing edge to the top of the canopy.

  3. MAIN WHEELS:
  1. Be no less than 1 ¾ in. Dia. X ½" width. Tires of either foam or rubber.
  1. TAIL WHEEL:
  1. Steerable Tail Wheel is required. No less than ¾ " dia.
  1. ENGINE:
  1. Any front rotor, stock, r/c .2 5 cubic inch side exhaust engine shall be allowed.
  2. Engines that turn greater than 16800 RPM on a Master Air Screw 8X6 propeller shall be disallowed.
  3. Muffler pressure only shall be used to pressurize the tank.
  4. Engine’s manufactured retail price is not to exceed $100.00.
  1. MUFFLERS:
  2. a. Only the manufactured stock muffler for that engine is allowed. Muffler baffle may be removed.

    b. A portion of the firewall may be removed/modified to access the muffler.

  3. COWL
  1. Competing AT6 aircraft will be flown with the cowl mounted.
  2. Portions of the cowl and firewall may be removed to accommodate engine and muffler installation.
  1. PROPELLERS:
  1. a. APC 2 bladed 8"d X 6"p.
  2. b. Or as provided
  3. c. One side of the prop may be altered to balance.
  1. AIRCRAFT WEIGHT:

a. Shall not weigh less than 3 pounds.

b. Aircraft shall be weighed, including the alternate, prior to racing.

  1. Winning aircraft may be re-weighed on the line at the end of each heat.
  1. SPINNER:
  1. A rounded spinner or AMA nut shall be used.
  1. FUEL

a. Fuel will be supplied

RACE OPERATIONS

TAKE OFFS

  1. Take-offs will be RaceHorse Start.
  2. Take-off positions will be rotated
  3. Engine will be started on the line. Callers will remove start boxes after take off
  4. Maximum of 90 seconds allowed for starting engines
  5. The starter will drop the flag at 90 seconds, the flag maybe dropped sooner if all pilots indicated that they are ready to start
  6. Pilots jumping the start will be black-flagged and receive a zero for that heat.

  1. A horn will be sounded at the pylon that has been cut.
  2. The winner of the event will be the pilot who at accumulated the most points at the conclusion of all heats.
  3. In the event of a tie, a fly off will determine winner.
  4. In the event of a mid-air collisions all aircraft involved will land immediately. They will be awarded a zero for that heat.

REGISTRATION

  1. Race day registration is 8:00 to 8:55 AM
  2. Pilots/Callers meeting 8:55 AM
  3. Trim Flights 9:00 to 9:25 AM
  4. First heat on the starting line 9:30AM
  5. Entry Fee: $5.00
  6. Prizes to 3rd place
  7. Race Days are the last Saturday of every other month beginning February 26, 2000
